DARPA creates a Mach 20 plane - Fastest ever created
UPDATE: Shortly after its launch the aircraft was lost. DARPA has a Twitter account recounting everything that’s going on up to the minute. Check with it throughout the day to find out if it caused a rift in time and landed in the time of the Aztec’s.
When you think about it, at Mach 1 you are flying at the speed of sound, and if you keep going, you’d be able to see a bullet fired from a gun fly along side you and the actual sound of the gun left in the weeds. There are fighter jets that can travel a few times faster than the speed of sound, but we still hope one day we’d be traveling at the speed of light — and we’ve gotten a bit closer — Mach 20 (20 tiems the speed of sound).
Say hello to the Falcon HTV-2, the worlds fastest plane in history. Coated in carbon composite materials to withstand temperatures in excess of 2,000C, and built to cut through the air at 13,000MPH the Falcon is the latest brainchild of DARPA. The Falcon should be in the skies tomorrow morning. The Falcon will be launched to the edge of space, before detaching and guiding back down to earth at speeds in excess of 13,000MPH. Lets hope for a safe and very fast ride!
