E3 2011 -- Xbox 360 drops Wireless Speed Wheel in October
Can you believe Major Nelson snuck out of a party just to drop some info on this completely unnecessary peripheral? Okay, so we know racing fans are passionate about their love of steering wheels, requiring hair-pin precision to make those tight turns in Forza Motorsport — but who does Microsoft think they’re selling this to… Is it supposed to be for kids? I thought Kinect was for that! Well, regardless it’s launching later this year for $60.
Major Nelson’s blog had this PR jargen to go along with the announcement:
“With trigger buttons for gas and brake, combined with a rumble feedback, the Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel provides intuitive standard controller buttons that immerse the driver into the game, whether you like to white knuckle it down the race track with your hands at “10 and 2” or “9 and 3.”
The new Xbox 360 Wireless Speed Wheel balances the realism of a wheel with the feel of a controller for greater user edge in game play. It includes buttons for game specific functions including triggers, ABXY and D-pad along with green bands of lights on each handle to provide visual cues when necessary.”
Any thoughts on this, cause the only thing I have on my mind is “I cannot wait to play Street Fighter IV with this monstrosity!”
