Griffin Beacon turns your iOS devices into a universal remote

It’s an iPhone. No wait, it’s a universal remote. No, no, it is most definitely both. — Yep, that’s right. What we’re looking at here is Griffin’s latest product for turning your ever precious iOS device into a universal remote. Now, we’ve seen a tonne of these products on the market before so if you’re familiar with one you’ll be familiar with this bad boy. Essentially the Beacon — that’d be the bell shaped looking thing — pairs with your iOS device over Bluetooth, and then pushes IR commands sent via the custom Griffin control app to various TVs, STBs, and A/V recievers scattered throughout your house. If you’re looking to snag one of these for yourself you’ll have to wait a bit, as currently the Beacon’s due to go on sale later in 2011, best of all its currently priced at $79.99.
