Henry Cavill's Superman suit in The Man of Steel looks promising - (Photos)

The announcement of Henry Cavill in the title role of The Man of Steel as the son of Jor-El had me wondering: 1) Who? 2) Did Snyder make the right choice? The first image released of Cavill as Superman was reassuring, but to be honest it raised more questions for me than answers.

A couple concerns I had weren’t just limited to the fact that Superman hadn’t been in great movie in over 30 years (not including DC’s outstanding animated features), Superman Returns was OK, and who knows if Tim Burton’s take would  have done for Superman what it did for Batman — although I doubt it. But after looking at some of the latest spy photos though I’m feeling a lot better.

In the latest spy images (courtesy of wacot.org) the detailing of the suits, texture and flexibility actually look more functional than before thought.

The suit has an alien feel, but it’s not too over the top and it’s inline with The New 52…something that was hard to see earlier. It’s also clear that Cavill took this whole Superman thing seriously: he actually looks swollen. Not swollen to the point where it’s ridiculous, but enough to make the point that he’s playing a guy who cells are living solar batteries.

With Cavill in various poses, and even giving what a solider that look that everything’s going is OK The Man of Steel is looks better every time I see it. But I could be crazy, what do you think?
