HP Slate Get's Official at $799
The HP Slate that we thought had been killed months ago is now official. Apparently the murderer was wrongfully accused and HP Slate cleverly hid in HP’s labs living off of canned spam. Just kidding. But the HP Slate has finally gone official and will cost $799 - 200 bones more than the iPad. Read on for more details and a video of the enterprise tablet!
Those ugly netbook specs have yet to change - 1.86 Ghz Intel Atom Z540, 2 GB of RAM, and a 64 GB SSD. Good thing the 1024 x600 8.9 inch display isn’t resistive!. But just as we got our hopes up, we realized that it still ran Windows 7 Professional. It has two more cameras than the zip cameras on the iPad but they are specced lower than the RIM PlayBook which is another professional tablet. We’ve got a VGA camera on the front and a 3 megapixel shooter on the back. We like the aluminum border similar to the iPhone 4 design and the fact that HP put in a grippy ruberized backing. Check out a video demo of all 1.5 pounds of HP Slate below!
