Incipio Feather Case Review (for iPod Touch 4G)
The Incipio Feather is a very well made case. That has been established. What’s so special about it? Nothing. It is pretty much one of the simplest cases you can get for your 4th generation iPod Touch, and also one of the best.
Features
- 1 mm thick
- soft touch rubber coating
- includes 2 screen protectors (matte + clear), applicator card, and cleaning cloth
- available in black, matte olive green, matte turquoise, pearl metallic purple, matte bright purple, matte pink, pearl metallic black, and pearl metallic white
Our Impressions
Coming straight from an Incipio Feather case for iPhone, I expected no less in the iPod Touch version. Installation was simple enough - I just snapped the case onto the back of my device and was done. The soft touch matte casing felt great in the palm of my hand and provided a good amount of grip. Barely any thickness was added to the back of the iPod (less than 1mm according to Incipio). As expected, the case fit perfectly and actually wrapped around the minimal border of the iPod Touch, making the screen level with the sides of the case. To clarify, if you’ve closely examined the new iPod Touch, you’ll have noticed that the chrome border is slightly recessed around the display. As for accessibility, all the buttons are easy enough to press while still being adequately protected. The dock region of the case is left exposed so you won’t have any issues concerning other accessories.
Along with the case, you get 2 screen protectors - 1 matte/anti-glare and 1 glossy/”crystal” Both are extremely easy to apply and are of the same high quality we praised in our review of the Incipio Silicrylic X for iPhone 3G/3GS. Throw a cleaning cloth and applicator card on top and we’re all set.
Overall
The Feather is one of the best and simplest cases ever made for the iPod Touch. What it lacks in features, it makes up for in quality. We’d like to think of it as a nice alternative to protective films that try to add as little thickness as possible to your device. For $25, consider it a bargain - you’re getting a great simplistic case and 2 very high quality screen protectors. 8 color choices make it a definite recommendation.
- Thin, simple
- Offers great screen protectors
Con’s
- May not be enough protection for some
