Lead MobileNotifier Developer Scooped up by Apple

Notifications on the iPhone and other iOS devices have been a riot mess for quite sometime now. We have seen a barrage of utilities and applications developed for those willing to take the plunge into jailbreak fandom, the most promising and unobtrusive system being MobileNotifier. In fact, some may remember our original article on the matter. Since then however, MobileNotifier has transgressed from beta build software to semi-official Apple software. Let me explain; it has recently come to light that the original developer behind MobileNotifier was scooped up by an undisclosed fruit based company located in Cupertino, California.

Currently, Redmond Pie is reporting that lead MobileNotifier developer, Peter Hajas, was hired by Apple in order to work on iOS itself. According to several tweets from Hajas, he is currently taking a break from development of his ‘unofficial’ jailbreak software “to work in CA at a fruit company.”

Along with several tweets left by Peter Hajas, a confidential source reported to Redmond Pie that Peter Hajas’ details are now listed amongst the Apple Directory System as an “Apple Employee” specialising in “iOS Apps & Frameworks.”

Honestly, this isn’t the first time that Apple has hired people from the jailbreak community. In 2007, back when Apple was in the infant stages of smartphone success and SDK development, it was revealed that several people had been hired to work on an application distribution model — a la the App Store — which, still to this day is suspiciously similar to Installer.

Should this information pan out, it looks as though iOS 5 could being doing away with those antiquated push notifications. Hoorah!
