Leonard Nimoy voicing Sentinel Prime in Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Oh and if you didn’t get it after reading the title — yeah, Sentinel Prime is the robotic face seen in the film’s teaser trailer. So onward to the news; Leonard Nimoy, best known for his work as Spock of Star Trek fame has joined the cast of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, voicing Optimus Prime’s mentor, and older brother-like figure, Sentinel Prime. Excited? You should be.

Despite retiring from acting late last year after ending his career voicing the main antagonist, Xehanort, in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Nimoy has moved forward onto the much anticipated finale to the Transformers film series. So much for golf and drinking iced tea on the coast of Floria where most retirees spend their golden days. Nope, not Nimoy. He’s voicing a former Autobots leader, weilding a twin blade weapon, hoping to stop the Decepticon force from taking over Earth. Yeah, I think I know who I aspire to be when I get old!

And yet, this isn’t Spock’s first foray into the Transformers world. Believe it or not, he was the voice behind Galvatorn, the empowered Megatron who was given extraordinary power from the planet-eating Unicron. Hey, I suppose Transformers needed a Galactus-like enemy as well, with Galvatron playing the Silver Surfer role as ‘Cron’s herald. This time however, Nimoy will find himself alongside the Autobots, fighting for the forces of good.
