Make your own version of Twitter, now!

Twitter is amazing, and they have once again upped the game - and given Developers their own website to play, learn and create using their extensive library’s of tools. Today at Chirp, the Twitter conference for app developers, Twitter Platform Director Ryan Sarver said they would be giving developers their own little space for developing apps and getting more and better information about the Twitter APIs. More info after the break!

Get it working on your site

Head over here - Its a 1 step process to sign up, and once you do, the possibilities are endless. You can start developing ways for people to connect with your site, use pre-defined tools and its easy enough, most people with some Java experience will be able to figure it out.

Right off the bat they give you a neat bit of code to make it possible to recognise a Twitter username on your site and when users hover over it, you get a card so people can click follow, and see some info about the user, including the Avatar. Try a few of these — @itsbrandond - @ricardotrejo - @nickmahar - @porkens - @darthrunia - and the coolest part is there is no linking required!

I literally just typed in plain text for this post, and the script provided by Twitter automatically liked the recognized usernames (telling by the @ signs in front of them) and added a pop-up card and hot-linking. Good work guys @twitter , I am going to waste a lot of time on this!
