MineCon happening in Las Vegas after all on November 18, 19
MineCraft held a poll a few months ago on whether players would like to see a convention for one of the hottest indie titles ever developed. The catch however was that it would cost Con-goers $90 just for registration, which according to the poll on Notch’s blog was something that 36,000 + people voted they would “No, definitely not!”. Well, It looks like it’s going to happen anyway, and at the Mandalay Bay casino of all places (fancy, shmancy)!
There’s not a whole lot of information at the moment on details except that MineCon’s registration site along with everything else, such as schedule, exact location, and pricing will be going up later next week.
MineCraft’s full release will be happening on that same weekend, which was planned to coincide with the convention. Notch had a few words to say about that aspect of it all:
“For me, MineCon is about celebrating the full release of Minecraft. I’m really looking forward to getting up on stage and pushing the button to upload the final build.”
But just because the game’s losing its beta title doesn’t mean he’s going to stop working:
“We’ll just go back home and keep working on Minecraft directly after MineCon, but it does represent a huge milestone where the game finally leaves beta, something we’d never been able to do without our fans, so it feels natural to celebrate it with them.”
Again, tickets and other registration information will be revealed next week.
