New Music Monday: B.O.B.
“Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars” - It’s one of the most quoted songs on Facebook right now. Bobby Ray, aka B.O.B., has been growing in popularity this year. And with his first hit single Nothin On You ft. Bruno Mars, things are looking up for the artist.
B.O.B. is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. He is currently signed under Atlantic Records. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and has been making music all his life. In December 2008, he appeared on the cover of XXL magazine along with Asher Roth, Charles Hamilton, Kid Cudi, and Wale as “Hip-Hop’s Class of ‘09”.
His debut album, B.O.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, was pushed out earlier then scheduled. The early release was due to the commercial success of Nothin On You which has also helped B.O.B play concerts all over the nation. The album is a mix of great rap, upbeat hip-hop, and even Paramore! Airplanes reminds me of when Linkin Park and Jay-Z got together.

The album is very well done. It includes collaborations with many artist like Eminem and Lupe Fiasco. The themes of the songs are positive and not about killing, having sex with women, or things of that sort. It dabbles into different topics which is a nice change of pace. Airplanes has to be one of the best songs on the album. Hayley Williams voice is sweet and absolutely perfect for the song. B.O.B.’s album is a really great album. I highly recommend checking it out and maybe sharing it with your friends.
