Nintendo's 3DS eShop delayed until June 6th
Since the 3DS’ launch there haven’t been a whole lot of ways the handheld uses its WiFi capabilties. Sure, there’s online matches through Street Fighter 4, but where’s the internet browser and virtual console I was promised? We’ve been told the eShop feature would start rolling out to 3DS owners sometime in May, but it’s still not here. So what gives? Unfortunately, Nintendo has casually said it’s been delayed. Til when?
Nintendo.com:
A new system update for the hand-held Nintendo 3DS system will be available in North America the evening of June 6 Pacific time. By downloading the free update via a wireless broadband Internet connection, Nintendo 3DS users can enjoy new features and enhancements, including an Internet browser and access to the Nintendo eShop, where users can browse and purchase downloadable content. Nintendo’s E3 press conference was recently announced to be happening on June 7th, so that without doubt means they’ll be speaking about eShop’s features and possible upcoming classic titles during their presser. But according to the-magicbox, here’s just a couple of notable mentions that’ll be making their way onto the Japanese version of eShop once it launches:
- 3DS Ware - Rockman Dash 3 Prologue (200 yen), Petitcom (800 yen)
- DSi Ware - import DSi Ware from DSi to 3DS 3D
- Classic - classic titles in 3D, Excitebike, Legend of Zelda and Xevious will be available
- Virtual Console GameBoy - Ikari no Yousai, Phantasm
- Virtual Console Game Gear - Sonic & Tails 2, Sonic Drift 2, Dragon Crystal, Columns
- Virtual Console GameBoy Color - Super Mario Land, The Legend of Zelda DX (Demo)
- Virtual Console PC Engine - games TBA
- Demos - 3D Video Player, 3D Game Trailer/Previews Channel, Fuji TV and Nippon TV Previews
No word on what will be coming exclusively to Japan and what will be making its way to the rest of the world, but at least ehy’re starting strong. Though it’s quite a pain having to wait this long. Didn’t the Wii’s VC come out just weeks after its initial release?
