Planking while on the clock isn't a good idea, especially if you work at Gamestop
Planking is all the rage if you haven’t heard by now. And so when one Gamestop employee had the sudden urge to plan around his unsuspecting store, which apprently didn’t look very busy, he just went for it without thought to the repercussions. I mean, what could happen by loafing around as a piece of wood in a video game store?
Meet John Mazzocchi, a Senior Game Advisor for a certain Gamestop in New Jersey. He’s worked there for the past 4 years, since 2007 to be exact. So what do one do with such experience at the gaming chain when business is slow? Well, apparently it’s time to break out the camera and “Plank” in the store.
Well, it so happens that wasn’t a good idea seeing as soon after he “planked” and uploaded the images to Twitter he was fired from his 4 year job for what seemed to him as unknown reasons… that is, until he tried to get some unemployment benefits and was finally given full notice on where he went wrong.
The overall reason explained at the bottom of the statement smokes out why planking on the job is a bad idea. “Gross negligence” pretty much translates to possible damage to company property or bodily harm — so it was certainly not in John’s advantage that he went ahead and posted the images on Twitter, globally notifying that he was breaking the rules.
Lesson learned? We aren’t sure. But we wouldn’t put it passed him to be planking at his next job if the opportunity came up.
