Report: iPhone 5 was Steve Jobs final project
Care to guess what Jobs was doing before he left the day to day at Apple? Well, word on the street (read as blogs) is that the head honcho was hard at work on the next iPhone. Sounds like an obvious thing, but that’s just it. Knowing that Steve behind the next big leap in iPhone design and performance makes all the difference in that it could solidify his legacy that much more.
According to Ashkok Kumar, an analyst at Rodman & Renshaw, Steve Jobs involvement in the iPhone 5 project will have the town talking, maybe even in wonderment when it’s eventually released — taken from CNet’s report:
“The next-generation iPhone “was the last project that Steve Jobs was intimately involved with from concept to final design. For that reason…this product will establish the high water mark for iPhone volumes.” […] He expects the iPhone 5 to be a “cult classic” because of Jobs’ involvement.”
The rest of Kumar’s report is just the same stuff we’ve been hearing for months — about a wider screen, being a total redesign and all that. The iPhone 4S is the interim model to keep the Apple masses at bay until the new handset was ready, but as we reported earlier in the month, a possible delay may have hindered the original production schedule of the 5. Remember, we heard lots of chatter that iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 were set to be announced and launched on the same day — but as we all know, that didn’t happen.
When will we see the iPhone 5? It’s anyone’s guess now. But will we have to wait a whole ‘nother year? Because it seems sorta odd that we had to wait until October to get a faster model of the same phone we’ve been carrying around for a year — that’s not usually Apple’s MO.
