ScreenGuardz HD review (for iPhone 3GS)

NLU Products, the company that makes the BodyGuardz film we so highly praised, has another sub brand by the moniker of ScreenGuardz. Following our review of a competing rigid film, we decided to give the ScreenGuardz HD anti-glare screen protector a shot.

    Features

    • Premium anti-glare protector
    • Slight adhesive
    • Custom cut for each device
    • Includes 2 protectors
    • Easy to apply and remove

    Our Impressions

The ScreenGuardz HD comes in a simple cardboard envelope with two pieces of film inside a plastic wrapper. No instructions, squeegees, or cloths are included.

The home button and earpiece cut outs are perfect, with the earpiece hole actually being slightly larger than the speaker itself. The size of the protector is just as precisely cut. As with many other rigid screen protectors we’ve covered in the past, application is a stress-free practice. Air bubbles quickly disappear within seconds.

The ScreenGuardz HD itself has a relatively glossy finish. At the same time, it is an anti-glare screen protector. This is accomplished by having an extremely fine texture under the surface. In situations where the screen would become impossible to see due to glare, you would see a slightly matte finish instead. The illusion is rather hard to describe but on our outdoors usage, we did find that this helps somewhat. The surface of the screen protector is extremely smooth and is just as easy to gesture around on as without it applied. Scratch protection in our tests was decent but not amazing by any means. The hard PET material will last longer than soft films but the surface itself isn’t so good with blemishes.

Does the ScreenGuardz HD actually reduce glare as well as the company claims? We’d say yes without a doubt. Although it does not have a matte finish, this screen protector does serve its purpose quite well.

    Overall

We believe NLU Products has another winner here. The ScreenGuardz HD optically enhances the display of your iPhone by reducing glare in certain conditions. Although scratch protection is not the best we’ve seen, the overall finish is fairly impressive.

    Pro’s

    • Reduces glare
    • Easy application
    • Two films

    Con’s

    • Not the most scratch resistant

    Price: $15.95
