    Sennheiser CX200 in-ear headphones review

We’ve been long time users of full-sized Sennheiser headphones but we’ve always been curious as to how well their in-ear headphones perform. Today, we’ve got the CX200’s with us and we’re going to take a look at how good they actually are.

    Features

    • Innovative holding system (Twist-to-fit system) ensures best possible fit
    • Powerful, bass driven stereo sound
    • High passive attenuation of ambient noise
    • Optimised for iPod, iPhone, MP3 and CD players
    • Symmetrical cable

    Our Impressions

The Sennheiser CX200’s come packaged in a plastic blister pack backed by a piece of cardboard. Inside, you won’t find much aside from 2 sets of replacement tips and the headphones themselves.

In terms of design, the CX200’s look pretty clean – a combination of textured gray plastic and glossy black plastic. Each orb is joined to the cable by a thin gray flexible area. The best way to describe the appearance of the earbuds would be to say that they were pinched by an index finger and thumb. The ergonomic design helps you fit them snugly in your ear. Sennheiser logos and right/left markings are etched on to each earbud, as expected. Moving along the cable, you’ll find yourself staring at a V-shaped bit of plastic marked with the Sennheiser logo and CX200. This significantly separates the two cables, thus leading us to believe it’s main function is to prevent cable tangling. Continuing along the long cable, you’ll find a little clip of sorts that will prevent the cable from being too long. The gold plated 3.5mm headphone jack is shaped into a semi bendable and rather large “L.”

With the CX200’s, you won’t be getting much noise cancellation. However, we enjoyed the audio quality and rich bass. The low end was nicely accentuated but highs were not totally eliminated. At times, we did notice that audio became a tad muffled but overall, sound was fairly accurately produced. We wouldn’t exactly describe it as super “clear” but definitely good enough.

    Overall

At this price point (you can easily get them for much cheaper online), we’d have to say the CX200’s are a great choice for casual listening. They don’t look bad and the sound is likewise.

    Pro’s

    • Decent sound
    • Ample bass
    • Comfortable

    Con’s

    • sometimes muffled
