SGP Skin Guard (carbon) for Dell Mini 10v review

If you’re like most people, your laptop is probably a bland black. One day, we just got tired of looking at the fingerprint magnet of a laptop we had and decided to look for a solution. There are a lot of fancy skins out there but we wanted something stylish and simple. A carbon fiber skin fit that bill perfectly so we contact our friends at CreTouch for the SGP Skin Guard.

Features

  • High quality cover skin
  • Eco-friendly product with no harmful substances
  • Soft texture of the polyurethane
  • Customized pattern made in Japan
  • Removeable for easy attachment with silicon adhesive

Our Impressions

The SGP Skin Guard comes in a large green envelope with the skin and a large microfiber polishing cloth. The laptop skin comes in four parts. The main sheet, two side strips, and a circle for the Dell logo.

The surface of the skin is pretty high quality and the texture feels pretty good. The Dell logo cutout is very precise so that the chrome circle and Dell text show through. We do wish the side strips were a tad larger so as to cover more of the edge though.

Following the instructions, we meticulously polished the exterior of our netbook and applied the 3M vinyl. The process was simple enough althought it took us a couple of tries to align the sticker. The Dell circle has a perforated logo which you can easily punch out. Don’t fret if you misalign the skin during your first application; just remove it immediately and try again. It’s reapplicable to a certain extent. A word of warning - if you don’t get the air bubbles out when you apply the skin, they take a long time to disappear. We got impatient so ended up smoothing it out with our hands but it’s best to get it right the first time.

Overall

Overall, we think the SGP Skin Guard is a pretty good laptop skin. If you’re looking for great looking skin to protect your laptop, SGP’s carbon fiber skin is the way to go. With its precise cutouts and nice texture, this skin is definitely one of our favorites so far.

Pro’s

  • looks great
  • durable scratch protection
  • easy to apply

Con’s

  • more side coverage would look better
