Squarespace says an iPad app and Android app are coming very soon

The almighty Squarespace is going to bless us with fancy new stuff to play with very soon - and I can’t help but be a little excited. According to Mark Burstiner, Squarespace’s new Engagement Leader, new apps will be available to download and “more consistent content is on the way”. Ok, what the hell I am really excited!
Alright, guys got some news and updates coming your way on the blog. Who’s interested?
It was published today on Squarespace’s blog, that they would be releasing some new apps, and features to the platform - namely an iPad app. Personally, I have wanted this for a while, mostly because it’s not possible to edit your Squarespace content on the iPad, due to limitations in the Safari browser. They mention “The app is in development right now”, but their is no confirmed release date as of yet.
Next up, they announced they would be releasing an Android app, but they have not started development yet. They are currently “kicking the idea around and determining how best to get our look and feel onto this platform” which could prove to be tricky.
Other updates include “Text, HTML, Markdown, and Textile editing” on the iPhone (and iPad) along with one more “surprise” related to that. Also there will be Forum upgrades that will bring threaded posts and a complete “commenting and forum system revamp,” which is pretty exciting for Squarespace users.
Don’t expect any changes to happen over-night, as Squarespace prefers to be perfect, rather than be first. We’ll keep you posted on anything that happens ;D
