Overall
Our BodyGuardz Dry Apply came in pretty nice packaging; The black box opened up to reveal a squeegee, cleaning cloth, moist hand wipe, and of course, the protective film in the opposite pocket. Atop that pocket, a list of application instructions were printed. The other warned to make sure your hands are clean before applying the film. After reading through multiple times we were ready to start.
One of the most important and challenging aspects of a protective film is application — if you don’t get it right the first time you’re going to have lots of trouble while using your device later on. How does the BodyGuardz Dry Apply perform during this tedious process? To put it simply, we didn’t break a sweat.
However, my main gripe/warning is that the holes are not cut out perfectly to match the edge of the button. To clarify, there is a space between the cut-out circle around the home button rather than the film fitting perfectly flush along the edge of the button. While this proves to be better during actual use, we did have a bit of trouble aligning the screen protector properly, especially considering there is a camera hole to line it up with. The back side was a lot easier, surprisingly. Pretty much everything lined up as it should have. Air bubbles settled down in a couple of days and left no marks whatsoever. If you mess up on the first try, don’t worry about it — you can pull the film off fairly easily without it warping.
So what about protection and coverage? This BodyGuardz leaves little of your precious iDevice exposed. The regions between the speaker grill, dock connector, and headphone jack were all covered to the fullest extent while buttons were easy enough to access. The camera and mic are left exposed by a raindrop shaped cutout rather than two separate holes. Corners are also protected by an ingenius curved strip design. Take note that because of this two part corner protection there are four exposed strips going inwards towards the center of the device. Made of an incredible durable substance, the entire film feels quite rigid and does not scratch easily. A fine gloss texture surfaces the screen, allowing for total control while making it slightly easier to drag your finger around on the display.
Overall
BodyGuardz offers a very appealing alternative for those looking to protect their device but not going through the hassle of liquid application. Two sets of the film are included in the package, beating most of the competition. Slap on a lifetime warranty with free replacements and you’ve got a great deal on your hands.
