Verizon and AT&T iPhone 4 commercial smackdown
Over the past few weeks there’s been a bit of “heat” between AT&T and Verizon, and Apple is in the middle loving every minute of it. It’s turned into somewhat of a multi-million dollar, passive agressive argument between in-laws, and there’s no sign of it stopping. But no matter what happens Apple will emerge with its pockets lined with money and lots of it. Let the smackdown begin!
Ding ding! — Verizon comes in with this heavy hitter
If anything gets you pumped for the Verizon iPhone 4, this is it. It’s almost like a point has been reached where something had to give, and finally the climax has unfolded with costumers left with goosebumps and their credit cards at the ready. It’ll take a lot for AT&T to overtake this…
…And here comes the jabbing
It wasn’t enough for Verizon just to get people excited… they wanted to jab AT&T a little to get back at them for “that damn Apple contract thingy”, so they got the TestMan to make a successful phone call and say “I can hear you now” just to rub it in. AT&T didn’t like this — no, not at all.
Apple attempts to bring peace
Two is better than one right? Well, Apple knows there’s in fact something better — two companies fighting over your iPhone 4 like school girls fighting over the heart-throb of the playground. It’s a cutesy ad, but inevitably Apple deosn’t care if there’s “peace” — they just want to make a metric crap ton of cash.
AT&T comes in swinging — gloves off
This is a really good commercial, I mean it’s almost Super Bowl quality, but you see, I am crazy (almost insane) to like it, because everyone seems to hate it. The majority for that reason is that you can’t make a call on the iPhone 4 (let alone in an office building), but asking it to complete a call and make reservations using 3G at the same time is as successful as betting a one legged dog can bury is crap on a frozen lake… sorry, I’ve lost my train of thought…
In summary
Verizon is excited to finally have the iPhone after 4 years of regret (they turned Apple down y’know) and watching AT&T grow like a bad weed. They are going to take every chance they get to jab AT&T in the gut, and AT&T will always come back slapping away. But here’s the part that everyone overlooks — Apple gets the spotlight, no matter how hard these two companies try to steal it. Apple has these guys in the palm of their hand, and it’s only a matter of time before they squeeze a little to get what’s left.
The smackdown continues…
