Opera for iPhone has been Approved - free to Download

I never thought this would happen - but Mr. Jobs has a heart after all. The long awaited Opera browser for the iPhone has officially been approved by Apple, and given the a’ Ok by Steve Jobs. We are sure that the Opera team have some celebrating to do, and they really deserve it.

Why this is so amazing is because first of all, it is almost impossible to get onto the App store if you have an app that even slightly resembles one Apple already has, like the Phone app or MMS.

What makes this a really remarkable acomplishment is that this is a browser, and if you haven’t noticed, Apple already has one aka Safari.

Not only does this app replicate their own browser, but it claims to be faster, more stable and pack a bunch more features and why Apple let this one through, I don’t know.

I am sure of a few things though - I know it is going to be faster because of the really cool technolagy they are putting to use, and its also going to be more usable, in terms of the speed dial (pictured left) and other neat features, that the really basic Safari browser lacks.

RinryGameGame - Bonus Stages in Gaming

Ahhh yes, bonus stages! In her latest video, Rinry takes a look back at some of the oddest, some of the best, and some of the most fun bonus stages from the games of yesteryear.

It’s too bad there aren’t many of these around nowadays, because they really gave you a break from the maddening difficulty of some those old school 8-bitters.

No multitasking for non-3GS iPhones - For no reason

Why can’t we use multitasking on an iPhone 3G, or an iPod Touch 2nd gen? - The answer was simple at first, hardware limitations and lack of resources to run the apps. What confuses me is when Steve said “We have found a way to run multiple apps without effecting battery or speed” and he said it right in the keynote. He is right, but when he explains himself, he is wrong.

Google Docs Major Upgrade - Video

I personally love Google Docs to death, and I use it for school every day (my teachers get so confused!) but seeing this makes me want to drop MS word, and Open Office all together, and use Google Docs exclusively. They have revamped pretty much everything - Read more

EA Announces New Development Studio Headed by West and Zampella

We reported, way back in March, that trouble was brewing at Infinity Ward and while we never got the full story, we have been getting some tidbits of info if you’ve been following the legal dispute that’s been going on for a while between Activision and the co-founders of Infinity Ward, Jason West and Vince Zampella, on the ownership of the Modern Warfare franchise.

Everyone thought that they would sign a contract with EA and, unsurprisingly, we were right!

Miyamoto on Nintendo future - "The best is yet to come"

Nintendo has a ton of hit franchises up their sleeves but most of them were concocted within the mind of one man, Shigeru Miyamoto. Whether it was Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, or more recently, Wii Sports, they were all his brain children. So when people are curious where Nintendo as a company is heading, well they turn to him for answers.

What’s interesting to note about Miyamoto is that at times he doesn’t even have an official job title. You could say he’s the Walt Disney of Nintendo; he’s given ultimate creative freedom to do whatever he wants.

In a recent interview with the UK magazine, GameTM, Miyamoto discussed a few things we could be seeing in the Wii HD/ Wii 2, and even hinted at a possible new Star Fox game.

“In the past five years I’ve been working on such unusual titles like Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort… Ten years ago I could never have been able to imagine that I would be making games like that. That’s why I can say that the best is yet to come to me.”
