Twitter is down due to "high error rates"
Twitter is down due to "high error rates"
I’m not here to be mean to Twitter, and frankly we all need to cut them some slack. It’s a free service (we don’t pay them), so if their going to have a little down time, we have no right to complain. Your not as entitled as you think.
The outage started around 5:40pm EDT August 5th. Update: it’s now back at 6:50pm EDT

Video - Every Star Wars Lightsaber Ignition And Retraction »
This is a nice little piece of awesome for you to chomp on today — a video of every single Star Wars lightsaber ignition and retraction (ever) in production order. Even though this could be dangerous to watch alone (because of the immense amounts of awesome)… you’re welcome.
Warner Confirms Batman: Arkham City for Fall 2011 Release
Warner has just confirmed the official name of the sequel to Rocksteady studio’s acclaimed game Batman: Arkham Asylum. Entitled Batman: Arkham City, we also got additional info on it, with confirmation of the game being set in Arkham City “the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds.” The game will also feature a brand new narrative, a “vast range of new and enhanced” features and a fix to the X-Ray vision to ensure that you don’t play with it on for the entire game.
Nexus One is back in action! (for developers with deep pockets)

If you missed your chance on getting the premiere phone that will garner you the most Geek-Cred, then Google has you covered. The Official Android Developer Phone as of right now is the Nexus One according to the Official Android Developer blog. And all you have to do is be a registered Android Developer, have $529 laying around and be ready and willing to part with it. And of course, there is that pesky fact that there are only GSM models available. Stop complaining, be glad there is a route you can still get this phone domestically.I wish they had released the Sprint version this way but I digress, could this be a harbinger to the rumored Nexus 2 Neowin mentioned? We shall see!

Google and Verizon want a Tiered Payment system for the internet »
This story from the NY Times really left a bad taste in my mouth (but not because of the article) — The fact that Google and Verizon want to “team up” and charge customers more to make Google services like Youtube and Gmail “faster” than other websites, breaks the very fibre that has kept the internet alive for decades. Net neutrality.
Make sure to answer our poll in the sidebar — we want to know what you think!

Google Wave Development Halted, To Be Killed This Year
Google Wave never was really too exciting to us. What Google calls “a new web application for real-time communication and collaboration” received a less than welcome response and adoption even after opening up to the public on May 19th. I remembered how so many people on the Internet begged for an invite to Google’s new service only to later realize it was quite useless and became disappointed.
