Skype's crazy history as a company - Infographic

When it comes to calling people over the internet, VOIP (Voice over IP) isn’t a common term. In fact, nobody really ever uses the generic terms “video call, audio chat, online call, etc”. There’s only one term that is understandable by anyone and everyone — “Skype me”.

Skype has become somewhat of a verb when it comes to arranging a VOIP call, heck even I have invited our editors to a call by posing the question “Wanna Skype later to go over blah blah blah”.

It’s pretty clear that Skype is the first choice by anyone when it comes to having a successful video/audio call, and with the purchase by Microsoft, it only seems fair to take a look back at Skype’s crazy history…

A frightning example of what the Internet is becoming

So, when when we look at the state of the internet today, it’s not as great as it was a few years ago, but it’s pretty good. We have access to any website under the sun, any video, movie, song or news clip ever recorded and any book, text or article ever created. Life’s good on the internet, and it’s opened doors for many companies (basically every company you care about) and it’s opened gateways to the rest of the world. It’s entertainment, information, communication and creation and it could be the most valuable asset of the 21st century.

Listen to Portal 2's "Cara Mia" theme in A Capella

“Want You Gone” isn’t the only new theme in Portal 2 (and sorry if that’s any kind of spoiler for you guys who haven’t finished it). For those who have however, will enjoy this version of the subtle, and almost eerie opera-like song titled Cara Mia”, vocalized beautifully by artists Liz Baseman, Rachel Dolkas, Matt Forman and Cody Shough, who did this little video project for science’s sake.
