AT&T's warped view of the internet - $65 to stream video

When you take something that works, something that flows endlessly and is available to anyone, you need to appreciate it. Some people do not; some companies want to squash our standards, and cripple our means of content and communication. They want to limit our opportunities all because of greed, power, and the all mighty dollar.

Did you know? Unless you have a 3Mbps internet connection, you can't use Facebook. Without 12Mbps internet, you can't even email files! And just forget streaming video without at least 18Mbps internet. Welcome to the internet, according to AT&T. This is what they want YOU to think - the common consumer.

This chart for AT&T U-Verse makes us sick. Why would we ruin the foundation of the open web, and reduce it to no more than plans and packages. When you cant even watch Youtube unless you are paying $65 a month or you cant use MSN video chat unless you pay $75, you know you have the wrong provider. But then again that's just what the chart says. Of course you still have access to your favorite sites, but what At&t is trying to get consumers to believe is that you're going to NEED a higher connection speed get what you want. Those who've tread this path before know the deal, but internet newbies may be tricked into getting what they don't need. Booo AT&T!
