New Music Monday: The Pack is Back
First off I would like to say that I know this is Tuesday and not Monday. The reason I waited until today is because I wanted to wait for the special release of the bay area's rap group, The Pack". Today we will check out their new FREE mixtape entitled "The Pack is Back".
For those who don't know about the bay area legends The Pack, they are a rap group. Some people may not like rap music and if not, this music probably won't change your mind. The group consists of Damonte "Lil Uno" Johnson , Brandon "Lil B" McCartney, Lloyd "Young L" Omadhebo, Keith "Stunnaman" Jenkins. Lil B attended El Cerrito High School, and Young L attended Albany High School. Lil Uno and Stunna attended Berkeley High School in Berkeley, California. They all recorded together for over a year at Young L's home studio where they released their first two mixtapes Pack Muzik Vol. 1 and Wolfpack Muzik Vol. 2. When Too $hort signed The Pack to Jive Records, they were all only around 17 years old. Not long after, The Pack created 2006's sneaker anthem, "Vans" and released it via their MySpace page. The Pack's hit song "Vans" was number 23 on the top 30 hip hop charts and was No. 5 on the Rolling Stones "Best songs of 2006".
The tracks include:
- Intro
- Touch Me (iPhone)
- RIP Mike Jack
- Slappin ft/Husalah
- This is it PACK
- Agent Skully
- The Wolves (skit)
- Fly Erryday
- Hoop Shorts
- Alpine
- I Luv My Sneakers
- Switch It Up
- Lil Uno Interlude
- My Place
- Hoes In This House
- Ba Ba
- jAckhammer
- This is it PACK
The real fans and lovers of hip-hop will appreciate this album. The mixtape is free to anyone and includes 18 tracks with interludes. Oh, and did I mention it's free!? The mixtape is in a radio DJ form where each song continues to the next with almost no interruption. Each of the 18 tracks have just about no ending, and no beginning when you listen to them. Personally, I have always loved this group but they have had some bad albums in the past. Thankfully, "The Pack is Back" album is not bad in any way, shape, or form.
Check it out if you're looking for new hip-hop music or just some good club dance music. Even if you don't like them, or even like hip-hop, give them a shot - there's nothing to lose since it's free! Click HERE for the link to the mixtape (no, you won't get a virus).
In the words of The Pack, Stay Based!
