PC Review - Alien Breed 2: Assault Review

It’s obvious that many people haven’t heard of Alien Breed, which is super unfortunate. Team17 Software is setting that straight with a reimagining of the series, and although it was released very quietly on Steam, it’s an extremely fun and challenging game that succeeds in giving you a ton of bang for your buck!

t3ch review - Eagle Eye PS3 USB Adapter

Let’s be honest, console controllers suck when it comes to shooters. The precision of a mouse and keyboard are irreplaceable, and all the more so when it comes to the hardcore FPS gaming space. Well, that’s where Penguin United’s Eagle Eye PS3 Adapter comes in. It converts any standard USB HID Keyboard into a “replacement” controller for your PS3. And while it isn’t perfect, the Eagle Eye does make good on its advertised “unfair edge” moniker over other PS3 gamers.

Little Big Planet 2 Delayed into 2011

Damn, the sequel to one of the most creative and fun platformers out there, LittleBig Planet 2, has just been delayed all the way to January 2011. It’s quite the delay, as the game was supposed to be released this year on November 16th!

Wii Review - Metroid: Other M

Metroid Other M doesn’t make a good first impression. A clunky control scheme, ugly graphics and some underwhelming voice acting don’t give you many positives to speak of early on. However, with Team Ninja at the helm of this particular title, Other M turns itself into a satisfying action title while also harkening back to the likes of Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion with tons of collectibles. The increased focus on storytelling is subpar until the end, where it begins to pick itself up and improves dramatically. It’s a mixed bag for the entire ride but it’s definitely worth a try, especially if your a hardcore fan of the series or if you just want to see something different in a Nintendo franchise.

PC Review - Burn, Zombie, Burn!

In a market that is already teaming with numerous zombie titles, Doublesix boldly steps in with their newest title Burn, Zombie, Burn! At first glance the game looks like your typical zombie shooter but is kept entertaining by interesting use of fire mechanics along with being surprisingly strategic. It’s a ton of fun to play in short bursts but a lackluster control scheme as well as some fairly redundant extra modes makes this a tough sell for PC users.

New Xbox 360 Controller with Transforming D-Pad, November Release

New Xbox 360 Controller with Transforming D-Pad, November Release

Lots of news on the Xbox front this week, as Major Nelson has confirmed that a new wireless 360 controller with a “revolutionary” transforming d-pad will release on Nov 9th (in the U.S.).

What’s interesting is that the controller can transform from a disc to a raised cross with a simple twist, which will improve the currently lackluster d-pad on the existing controllers. There are also some other small changes like gray A,B,X and Y buttons instead of the standard green, red, blue and yellow on current models as well as a sleek sliver finish with improved stability for your hands.

It’s looking great and will all be coming to you for the price of $64.99. If your heading to PAX this weekend, you can head to Microsoft’s booth to try the new controllers out for yourself!
