Some iOS users will get MobileMe for Free - Some crazy speculations

MobileMe overall is a great service… it’s a very expensive service, but it’s really good. For years, people have been paying $99/year for MobileMe which includes things like Mail, Cloud Storage and Photo sharing — but recently, a piece of code found in the iOS 4.2.1 GM seeded to developers last week showed that Apple is planning to create a free tier of MobileMe.

You can Login to MySpace using Facebook

Well, the new MySpace is here and it seems to be much better. The addition of a new homepage design will really get new users excited, and all of the eye pounding images and videos, everywhere, will tickle the senses of teenagers and music/video fiends everywhere. It all seems really neat, but the most shocking change was the addition of “signing in through Facebook”.

Why today's iTunes Beatles announcement is important

Todays announcement of the Beatles coming to iTunes took over the Apple homepage, and the iTunes store. It’s all over the headlines, and Apple is treating it like a flagship product release — even though it’s just some new music. It may seem dumb that the Beatles are coming to iTunes, even though you already have every song on CD, ripped to your iPod and this seems like a money grab — but it’s not. It’s just a little something for Apple on a more personal level, and they’re not planning to make a bunch of money.

Sparrow for Mac gets Gmail Labels

We have talked about Sparrow for Mac before, and it has gotten even cooler since then. It has gained a new ability to display Gmail Labels, along with a tight bundle of new features and improvements:

  • Labels
  • Quicklook on attachments
  • Save Cc/Bcc state
  • Click on a sidebar icon (inbox, favorite…) get you to the top of the list‘
  • Move to inbox’ from archive and search sections
  • Memorize main window size
  • Attachments saved in ‘downloads’ folder
We’re really excited to see a new competitor in the mail application space flourish and hopefully “make it big”. If you want to update to the new version, open Sparrow on your Mac, Open the Sparrow Menu and “check for updates”.

iPad iOS 4.2 Update should be here today - Delayed again

According to a recent post we wrote 2 days ago, the iPad update should be arriving in less than 2 hours (10:00AM PDT), but due to recent events, Apple has cancelled the 4.2 update and is holding off (again) until some serious WiFi issues are fixed. Basically, even if the iPad manages to successfully connect to a local network, the connection is lost after a few minutes. It’s hard to believe that iPad iOS 4.2 was originally set to release in October.
