A look inside Google+ and everything that we love/hate

It was just a few days ago that Google officially announced it’s leap of faith into the social game, and of course it exploded into a whirlwind of speculation. “How would Google beat Facebook at their own game?”. That was the big question after the announcement, and after a short spurt of observation, I realized that people were already packing their bags, ready to jump the Facebook ship — but haven’t we seen this all before? And didn’t it all fail?

Google gives us a look at the +1 project - Video

We thought Google was up to something, but we never realized the scope of what it was. It seems as if Google has been keeping everyone in the dark (and most importantly compeditors) as to what they were up to. Obviously they have been hard at work on Google +1, but will a company who’s never succeeded in the social game stomp the competition?

The GooApple Phone - The best iPhone clone in history (running Android)

You like your iPhone, the solid build, the slick curves and the shiny screen, but you also like the Android OS with it’s geeky functionaliaty and greater control. Wish you could have them both? Well, Chinese company Valley Fruit Technology has decided to make a shamless carbon copy of the iPhone running Android and call it the “GooApple”. We’re not sure if Apple is steaming mad, or screatching their heads…

Google's site has been un-officially redesigned

The Google homepage has been essentially the same since day one — blue underlined links, white background, the famous multi-color logo (inspired by Lego) and the occasional Google doodle. The Google homepage and search page have undergone many tweaks and enhancements, but it has never strayed from what it has always been… simple.

You can now use images to Google Search

There have been so many instances where I have an image at my disposal, but I have no clue what it’s about. It may be a wierd animal, or an album cover for a song or even a gadget you just can’t identify. Now Google brings image search to us in a new way where we can drag and drop an image into our browser and Google finds results based on the image. Another smart move Google…

Google Instant Pages loads websites before you see them

Google has once again made something faster, and this time it’s entire web-pages that are already loaded before you click on them. Essentially what happenes is you search for something, and Google takes the first result (the website) and caches a local copy on your computer so when you click the result, the page is loaded from your harddrive instead of from the web-server. Really smart.

Voice Search for Google - (Video)

Similar to the way search functions on Android phones, you can now search Google with your voice. Release on Monday, it will take “several days” for it to become available for everyone. From my experience while using it on Android, it works suprisingly well.
