the Best GTA 4 Tweaks, Mods and Optimization guide | Multiplayer File Check Fix

How to use modded files in multiplayer in 1.0.4.0

Grab the GTAIVFileFix pack which allows you to use any modded file you want, exept:

animviewer.dat
cj_gta.dat
default.dat
gta.dat
handling.dat
melee.dat
networktest.dat
WeaponInfo.xml

Download file Check Fix

AUTO CONFIGURATION STEP 1

1. If you have geforce, install this drivers (new beta 3 drivers for gta 4):

(BEFORE INSTALL, UNINSTALL YOUR OLD DRIVERS! RESTART, AND THEN INSTALL)

WIN XP 32bit
http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-F...

WIN XP 64bit
http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-F...

VISTA 32bit
http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-F...

Vista 64bit
http://downloads.guru3d.com/GeForce-F...

Install it

2. Then download this
http://rapidshare.com/files/173211690...

and give this file into X:/.../Grand Theft Auto IV/
and make shortcut to deskop.

Click right button on shortcut and add the " -s *.* -v" thing to the back of target line of the shortcut properties.

Run it (if vista- run as administrator), wait ~15minutes or more (its close when done).

3. Run game by social club in offline mode

and when you start game, press ctrl+alt+delete and set highest prority for GTAIV.exe and LaunchGTAIV.exe

4. In game options, off clip capture

5. If you dont want lots of shadows

(only towns, cars and bigger things) set "Shadow Density" for 0. When you set "3", lamps, PED's give shadows. Its veeery slow game when you turn on reflectors in car.

6. If you want to have pretty game without set high setting, you can press "p" for blur

MANUAL CONFIGURATION STEP 2

First, make a text document, call it Commandline.txt. Save it in your GTA4 folder.

in the document, type in as follows:

-norestriction
-nomemrestrict
-availablevidmem "x"
-percentvidmem "x"

Ok so the first "x" for the -availablevidmem can be set how much ram you have. For me, i have 1GB VRAM total (HD 3870 x2, 2 x 512MB of VRAM), so i would need to type in -availablevidmem 2.0. If you have 512MB of VRAM, then -availablevidmem 1.0. The -nomemrestrict makes it so you can change how much memory from your VRAM to be and used but displays how high the availablevidmem is set to. As for the -percentvidmem, i just put 100 so i can use 100% of all of the VRAM, so type in like so: -percentvidmem 100.

THE BEST GRAPHICS MODS

Ultimate Graphics Tweak

Although the PC version of GTA 4 has been released several months ago, players still can't use Anti Aliasing. The Rockstar game only offers the option to (de)activate Post Processing effects. This effect consists of several effects that are used simultaneously only: Depth of Field and Motion Blur. Active Depth of Field doesn't just reduce the sharpness in the distance, but also "softens” the textures and shadows near to Nico Bellic. Thus high-frequency (flickering) content is detected and the whole scene appears more settled. Motion blur is only visible during fast camera turns or when driving at high speed.

GTA 4: Motion Blur lässt sich per Tweak einzeln deaktivieren [Source: view picture gallery]But what if you want only the Soft Shadows but no Motion Blur? The sharp shadows are fine but a little Motion Blur would be good, too? The Ultimate Graphics Tweak allows you to use the effects separately. You only need to replace some files with modified versions. Just follow the instructions in the gtaforums.

In the thread you can also find several examples of the possibilities offered by the Ultimate Graphics Tweak. On the following pages we assembled several comparisons to exemplify the most distinctive differences. Those pictures were recorded with GTA 4 updated to the current version 1.0.3.0.

5 Best torrent sites, Besides Pirate Bay

Winner | Kickass Torrents

We hardly use Pirate Bay (*wink*) and when we do, we are usually trying to find the one torrent that is "good" and not a fake. So where have you gone now that PirateBay is in legal trouble, and Demonoid is down indefinitely? And all those inappropriate, embarrassing ads? Where are you going to search for all the torrents you want and need?

2. Mininova

MiniNova is perhaps the most well known in the BitTorrent community. It was formed after the demise of SuprNova by ex-SuprNova staff members. It’s not hard to argue that this was the best site that replaced SuprNova. It indexes .torrent files from other sites, so some of the .torrents are from private sites that only allow members of those sites to download the given files. Still, the site is moderated and well-used by members and, with the release of their distribution network, content creators alike.

3. ISOHunt

ISOHunt, like MinoNova, has had it’s share of legal trouble in the past and agreed to filtering content. Still, a number of users still use that site for finding what they want and it has stayed being one of the most populated sites online to this day.

4. 1337x

1337x.org is a lesser known BitTorrent site. Still, that hasn’t stopped their front page from saying “we don’t plan on selling anytime soon.”

MustangX continues, “We welcome all the users of TPB to use our trackers and site. It’s a free leech community with NO ratios to maintain, we have a web based chat , A 24/7 radio station with 8 different DJ’s.”

5. BTJunkie

BTJunkie is another site that is well-populated with users, but not as well known as sites like MiniNova and ISOHunt. Still, many users still find this place to be a torrent home or even a second torrent home when another of their preferred sites goes down or inaccessible on their end.

What about Torrent Software?

Choosing a torrent client can be a pain in the butt and a tad confusing, especially when you're using Linux or Mac. It's especially hard to get support when your downloads are slow or your "ports need forwarding". So sometimes it's nice to try something new when you are tired of your old Torrent app and are looking for something fresh. Personally, I am tired of BitTorrent and I decided to try some of these other clients and they are all pretty damn neat!

YES! iPod touch Bluetooth Unlocked! in the OS 3.0 Update.

It was a real downer for iPod touch 2G owners to find out that the nike running accessory connects to the iPod touch via Bluetooth. "We cant use it for anything else!!" thats what I was thinking when I heard this.

Ever since then, iPod touch owners have been begging for the next OS update to have the Bluetooth enabled for all devices. Now one side note, all the cool stuff apple has done in the past 6 months, has been without Steve Jobs.

Hmm and ever since Bill Gates left Microsoft they trashed vista and came up with Windows 7, which is better than any OS out there. Is it that maybe when a CEO works for a company too long, that they maybe, perhaps, get OLD FASHOND. Take this for example, they put Safari 4 out to the public... IN BETA!!! Apple never does that! Unless steve has left. Now look at this. Uncovering a new functionality in the iTouch, now? Why not let the Bluetooth be free right off the bat?

These are images fresh from my iPod touch just after Upgrading! So this came with ALL iPods since day 1 but nobody got to use it till now? Apple might be coming up with something... (different then last week lol)

Logitech ClearChat™ "Stereo" and "Styles" Problem - Quiet/Dead Mic - How to fix

Hey brandoon111 here with another problem that needs fixing...

Ok, so time after time (like most of us) my friend complains about the quality of my mic (webcam) and not wanting to lug my studio condencer mic/stand in and out all the time, I decided to buy a Logitech ClearChat™ Headset for $37.87 (with tax(on sale)) after work.

When I got home I was full of jollidy and exited to open up the seemingly impossible to open packadge and plug this sucker in. I was supprized to find that there was no sound coming from my mic. Note: I am not computer illiterate. So I decided to check that my soundcard drivers were installed (having this week uninstalled Windows 7 beta and installed Windows 7 RC Because of the expiration period).

So, I descovered that yes, Windows 7 had installed everything for me. I decided to give up, then i had a tickle in my throught, coughed and heard it faintly in the mic (having previusly checked "listen to device" to see if it was working) and it was a bad mic.

At that moment I was looking at the logitech website, unhappy to find everyone else was having the same problem. So today I ventured off (again) after work and decided to exchange it for yet another  headset, and yes, ANOTHER logitech head set.

To make a long story short, read paragraph 3 (grey writing) again. After that I was a bit mad but I noticed that the mic was a bit louder this time but not very clear. So here i will recomend instead of getting the logitech ClearChat™ Styles, Try the ClearChat™ Stereo.

The Fix

In Vista/7

1. Click on "Start -Control Panel -Hardware and Sound -(Under sound) Manage Audio Devices" 2. Select Recording 3. Select Microphone 4. Select Custom 5. Check "Mic Boost" 6. Hit "apply" 7. Go to Listen 8. Check "Listen to device" 9. Go to Levels 10. When you are done ajusting, uncheck "listen to device" and hit Apply

XP

Step 1: From the Start Menu, scroll to Control Panel and choose the Sound and Audio Devicessetting.

image 1

Step 2: Under the Volume tab, click theAdvanced button under the Device Volumesection.

Step 3: If you do not see the Advanced button under the Play Control section, as seen below,

image 2

click the Options menu and choose Advanced Options. The Advanced button will now be visible, as seen below.

image 3

Step 4: Click the Options menu again and chooseProperties.

Step 5: Under the Adjust Volume For section, choose Recording and click OK.

image 4

Step 6: Under Microphone, click the Advancedbutton.

image 5

Step 7: Under the Other Controls section, place a check in the box next to the Microphone +20 dB Boost option, then click the Close button.

image 6

You have now successfully boosted your microphone! Now that the boost is enabled, it is important to lower the Microphone Volume Slider, as seen on the Recording Control page in step 6. Excessive volume will distort your microphone quality.
