Crytek: "No, we do NOT have next-gen Xbox dev kit, nor do we know its release date"
Last week Videogamer.com reported that Crytek knew a little something something about Microsoft’s Xbox 360 successor. Well, apparently it wasn’t true, or at least was misquoted. And they didn’t even care to address the Timesplitters 4 title as a launch title newsbit.
Speaking with Gamespot, Crytek set the record straight:
“According to a Crytek statement obtained by GameSpot, Crytek does “not have any next generation hardware from Microsoft” and has no idea when the Xbox maker will announce its future console plans.”
Not very exciting, I know. But hey, at least we can feel a little comforted to know that the next-gen may still be a couple years away. Nintendo may have already made their initial moves to make the jump, but even then they seem to only be catching up with the rest of the herd in terms of the hardware under the hood. And with Kinect sales pushing titles and system forward, Microsoft really has no need to force their hand.
