E3 2011 -- From Dust is the God game that will ease your soul
It’s easy to think of Peter Molyneux whenever the word “God game” comes up. His work on games such as Populous and Black & White paved the way for the Sims and other releases of the sort. From Dust is said to be a “spiritual successor” to Populous, taking elements from it and expanding upon them. The player’s goal will be to reshape environment arround them to save and enlighten a tribe of nomadic people.
From Dust / Mid- 2011 on PC, PSN, XBLA
It’s not doubt one of the prettiest games we’ve seen at this year’s show. Players will be given control over certain elements; namely lava, water, vegetation, and soil. Using these in conjunction with each other are pivotal in creating new areas and manipulating the space around you. And rather than going with a straight-up HUD (heads up display) seen in most games like these, you’ll be bestowed with a spherical type cursor that plays into the story of the game, keeping things abstract — having players watch as different gameplay elements make the sphere react throughout the game.
