Free GBA games for 3DS Ambassadors now available for download

You’d think that as part of their loyal fanbase who went out and dished out over $200 to buy the hulking 3DS machine, Nintendo would at least be kind enough to tell us when their GBA line-up was ready for download, right? Well, the games are available now and NOA is still mum through both press release and 3DS notification. Weird, I would say but at least  the games and release dates formally announced through Nintendo of Europe remain unchanged for those of us in the states. Download them now!

How To

  • Visit the eShop
  • Select the Menu option in the top left corner
  • Scroll down and select to Settings
  • Scroll down and select Your Downloads
  • Scroll down or switch to the next page until you see the GBA games listed for “re-download”
  • The full list of games available: Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi’s Island, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc. Mega Microgames, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Wario Land 4, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
  • Profit!

It may seem a little backhanded but I suppose it was easier to make it seem as if you already purchased the game (so you could get it for free) then to alter the eShop for every 3DS owner.

FAQ

* A few other tidbits of information for GBA games played on the 3DS;

* None of the aforementioned games are 3D Classics (i.e. Excitebike).

* There are no save states like in emulators, however the game will pause at your current location whenever you decide to multi-task and head on over to another app or game (this works even if you turn off the system).

* Games are not available for purchase for non-Ambassador’s at the moment.

* Some GBA titles might get free updates in the future to include multi-player and other enhancements.
