Latest MacBook torn apart, harvested, and reassembled in an older model
So what do you do when you happen to have last year’s MacBook, but you also want to extend its battery life by about 3 hours? You go out, purchase yourself a refreshed model boasting 10 hours of battery life, disassemble it and then let the transplanting begin. For the most part that’s what the fine guys and gals over at iFixit did. Of course, the new cells do weigh more and its newer silicon chip probably has something to do with that extra battery life, but hey, we didn’t object when Dr. Frankenstein created his monster and we’re not going to object now.
