New Pokemon Center opening in Japan to lend relief for earthquake victims
When disasters happen sometimes it takes something as simple as a recognizable video game or cartoon character to help kids cope with even the toughest of situations. Pokemon in Japan is a staple that’s become the new Mickey Mouse for thousands, if not millions, and so just getting a chance to take a photo alongside Pikachu may be enough to give kids that boost to look forward to tomorrow. That being said, Nintendo plans to open yet another Pokemon Center (its 7th in the country) as a means to take one more step towards normals.
What’s a Pokemon Center? Well, in the games they are a hospital, quick-care location for trainers to take their Pokemon to heal after battles. In real life however, they’re more like a store lined wall to wall with the latest Pokemon merchandise for purchase.
Touring around the region for a while now, the “Pokemon With You Tour” (a mall tour full of a number of Pokemon activities — such as: coloring, photo taking, quizzes, and more) will be adapted to the latest Pokemon Center store opening in the Tohoku region — an area hit hard by the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that happened in early March.
A little trading and Pikachu can go a long way it appears in this very unique method in earthquake relief provided for its victims.
