Rumor - The Last Story getting localized for Europe in early 2012
The Wii may be on its final legs, with the exception of Zelda: Skyward Sword a mere two weeks away, there seriously aren’t enough new titles to keep its popularity going. And what truly makes a system other than its games? Earlier this year Japan got itself 3 major RPG titles (The Last Story, Xenoblade, and Pandora’s Tower), a genre usually associated with the hardcorest of players, Nintendo of America and Europe initially decided to forego localizing the tri-fecta, seeing them as a lost cause since they would see minimal return on the localization effort. Well, NOE eventually got Xenoblade, but The Last Story and Pandora’s Tower have yet to see life outside fo Japan… that is, perhaps until now if this particular rumor is true.
According to WiiItalian, an Italian Nintendo based website, is reporting that The Last Story will indeed be making its way across Japanese waters over to Europe — an official localized version. However, for one reason or another, this particular rumor states that the game’s title will be changing to “The Last World”, which is quite an odd choice. Maybe the decision for the name change has something to do with people thinking it might be associated with the Final Fantasy series, which interestingly enough was created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, also the creator of The Last Story.
The Last World is reportedly due to be released across Europe on February 24th.
