Smokescreen Converts Flash to HTML5 and Javascript

Flash is now (probably) coming to the iPhone, thanks to Smokescreen - which takes Flash and converts it to HTML5 and Javascript. Sounds great right? Well, it gets better — It is Open Source, and there is no need to “re-tool” your Flash applications because Smokescreen automatically converts them to HTML5 and Javascript. Apple, I smell success…

Flash running on the iPad

Steve Jobs mentioned at the All Things D Conference that Apple is always looking for technology’s that are going up and moving forward, and Smokescreen seems to be headed in the right direction. They have a demo of a Flash intro, which works on the iPhone and iPad (slowly) but still, it seems to be working and unbelievably, this is Flash, on the iPhone iPad and Desktop without the Flash plugin, just a Javascript library. Its a miracle!

I feel there is nowhere to go but up for Smokescreen, and if there ever was a better time for Apple to adopt a new technology, this is the time - and Apple, you need this! I can’t wait for this new technology to evolve, and allow us to consume Flash on the iPhone and iPad, and stop the Apple/Adobe Flamewar. What do you think of Smokescreen?
