Android has come a long ways since the days of under powered smartphones and cheap KIRFish Shenzhen tablets. Just about everything under the sun, that isn’t running iOS, is under Google’s robust software, which is why here at T3ch H3lp, we’ve decided to compile a top 5 list of Android based tablets due to drop in 2011. — More after the break!
So you have a Galaxy Tab, what do you do now? You turn to T3ch H3lp’s resident Android expert on how to get the most out of your first Android Tablet, if you didn’t buy a JooJoo. And we hope you didn’t. The apps I will recommend have been tested and are currently in use by yours truly. Meaning, they will use the appropriate screen real estate and they are just more useful of the Galaxy Tab’s larger form factor. So with that, let’s get into it!
We can’t say we haven’t seen carriers drop prices on some high end phones but now it seems like small tablets are getting a discount. First, we have the Dell Streak at Best Buy for $100 on a 2 year contract with AT&T. Want to know whats really awesome? You can pick yours up in either black or white. Speaking of white tablets, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is also on sale for $350 (from $400) also with the 2 year contract but from T-Mobile. On a side note, T-Mobile also has some awesome Android phone discounts depending on your region.
If you bought a Galaxy Tab or an Epic 4G from Sprint anytime between October 31st and January 8th, you are entitled to a $50 Media Hub card from Sprint and Samsung. Now, there is are some restrictions on the things you can get but that shouldn’t stop you from cashing in on free money for media in order to give your device a workout, right? — Details after the break!
Watching this video, I was starting to really dig the vibe of what Samsung is going for — a very simple, straight forward tablet that is very much like the iPad, but also gives you relief on the go. It features a pretty snappy OS and seems to load apps almost instantaneously but it seems to borrow a lot from the iPad.
The most noticeable thing is the keyboard — it is an almost spitting image of the iPad’s and features almost the exact same colors. Another thing is the Books app, the shelves, turning pages and basic layout looks the same and this bugs me a bit, but if the Galaxy Tab is a good all ‘round device at launch, that’s all that matters.
How do you feel about the Tab and the iPad similarities?
The Galaxy Tab seems to be all the rage in the Tablet-o-sphere, and has recently been seen in news articles and real-world photos for the first time, but until yesterday there hasn’t been a good video demo of the device and it’s features. This is the first good hands-on video by Canadian blog MobileSyrup who talk about the tab for a good 4 minutes and demonstrate the main key features.
