Video: the Best Twitter app for iPhone - Twitbird

the TwitBird iPhone and iPod Touch app

This is simply supposed to be a great Twitter client for the iPhone or iTouch and should allow you to read and tweet with ease. Before I downloaded this app, I stared at the “download this app” screen in the app store and I thought to myself, “do I really need another Twitter app, or do I just have a weird fetish?”. After I tapped “Download now” purely out of curiosity, I soon realized after 10 minutes of using the app I decided to delete all my other Twitter apps and give this one a page all to its own.

Quick Overview

If you have never gotten the chance to use this app, do it now. This should be the new standard and every other Twitter app should follow by example. In my past use of TweetDeck, I loved it to death, but regularly I have experienced weird glitches and instability which frustrated me. I then moved to Twitteriffic which was pretty on the outside, solid and well built but lacked in functionality and features (you had to pay to get all that).

When I used this app I realized that you don’t have to make a great app, charge for it, then have a stripped down lite version for people to use. You can actually have your full featured app for free, and then work on making that already great app better and then charge for it — so not only is this free twitter app better then every other premium app, but the premium and pro version of this app are insane.

My 3 Favorite Features

Contacts

When you want to re-tweet or @reply someone, no longer do you have to worry about mispelling their name or making a typo, you can access your address book right in the middle of making a tweet and add @reply’s.

Drafts

Now you don’t have to feel all depressed that you can’t tweet on the go from your iPod Touch. You can tweet a draft and then publish it when you get home and also you can use this feature to save your ideas for later.

Orientation control

Sure you can use landscape and portrait mode, but this time you have full control with the ability to lock it in either mode of orientation and make sure you don’t have unwanted flips and turns when lying on your side.

Pros

Huge amount of features - Sable and fast - Unique features like contacts and orientation control - 3 Tiers of pricing - Great themes

Cons

Free version has ads - Odd strange design elements - Interface is amazing but needs a bit of polishing
