Whenever Microsoft tries to do something "Fun" or "Original" it always goes three ways. The first way is it turns out to be the most akward event anyone has ever witnessed, or maybe it completely trainwrecks in a horrible series of events, but sometimes it is all good, and it actually is fun! This time it was not. It was a mixture of the two first possibilities, and that's four minutes of 12 or so Microsoft employees dancing to some sort of dance mix, while everybody watches in horror and quietly minds their own business. We dare you to watch the whole thing. Do it!
From the people who brought you SpeedTest, PingTest does the exact same thing, but instead of speed, focuses on how steady your connection is. Connecting to various servers around the globe, you can use PingTest to measure packet loss and and make sure your connection has a consistent flow to where it's trying to access.
Give your internet connection a well deserved check up by using both services - which offer quick results and nice visuals.
Last week I reported on a rumor about social networking giant, Facebook, making it's way onto the PS3. And well, it looks like it was true after all ... go figure. I'm still curious as to why the PS3 is always last to get every single "new" feature they offer. I mean the Xbox pretty much locks up everything that is remotely interesting, and goes ahead and does it first, making the PS-Triple just look like a copy cat - but then again the Six-Axis showed us that how really Sony has no shame in taking away from other consoles.
The Xbox dashboard, or channels, just got a couple new addition early this morning. As tweeted by Major Nelson about an hour ago, the new features to Xbox Live have been officially released and are ready for use. Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, and the Zune Marketplace take center stage in this year's fall update. No download is required for the update so long as you have the latest system update installed, which you should have done about three weeks ago.
I've been part of the preview program for these features for the past month, and out of all of them I enjoy the Zune marketplace the best, and Last.fm. As for Twitter and Facebook, I really have no idea who will be using those "apps". But if you do then leave us a comment telling us why. Because I'd love to know.
Today, Twitter moved into a new larger office in San Francisco. But before I go any further, let's get a few things straight. First off, Twitter's old offices were nothing to cry about - stylish and clean. But this new place.... welll, it takes it to a whole new level, another league really. This office is one of the best I have ever seen! It is very modern and contemporary, with a touch of class. They stuck with grays, charcoals, and, mmmm, iMacs! Check out some of the pictures being posted to the web by Twitter employees below. And yes, there is a DJ booth — and vanity mirrors in the toilet stalls!
Please, for the love of God, do not go to a Verizon store drunk. Remember the reasonable service and their, "ok", termination fee? Verizon just became a considerably more mind numbing affair thanks to a chunky boost of its contract early termination fee. They raised it from the reasonable $175 to an unreasonable $350. This rumor has been floating around and now, sadly, it is confirmed as of yesterday.
A lucky few who bought an "advanced device" prior to the 14th is in the clear, but the rest of you are screwed (that is if you plan to cancel early). They throw you a bone by reducing the ETF by a stout $10 for every month of the contract you successfully hurdle, but that still leaves you with a $120 ETF 23 months into a 24-month deal. Again, don't drink before deciding on switching to Verizon.
No, dumb dumb, that is not an iPhone. It is in fact the aPhone A6 which is going to piss you off - but wait 'til you hear the details. The GSM (EDGE only, no 3G) device sports a 3.5-inch LCD display with capacitive multi-touch, 2 mega pixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, and a super duper trackball! What do we need it for, I have no idea.
Ricardo, Brandon, and Nick take some time to tear this game down to its roots in this original collaborative review - We explain everything.
Easily the most anticipated game of the year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had much to live up to. And usually hype kills a product - under achieving the expectations of old and new fans could potentially derail the game. How could Modern Warfare 2 outdo its predecessor when the original was considered to be perfect; perfect in both campaign and multi-player. I’ll tell you how… by going so over-the-top that you would literally forget what even transpired in COD4. But does over-the-top translate into a good game?
