Sneak peek at Nokia's new 2010 Symbian user interface

Ever since the iPhone, Android and WebOS took over the Smartphone, Nokia is now offering sneak peak at the new and improved 2010 Symbian user interface which borrows from a lot from these other Smartphone OS's. In 2010 new hardware and tweaked software will reduce Symbian's clutter, add multitouch input on "large capacitive displays," minimize steps to request functions. It should also significantly improve the browser experience, and make the entire UI 3 times faster than current high-end Symbian products while taking scrolling to 60fps (up from 15fps used today). With all this talk about all the great new Tech coming from Nokia, we would like to see it in action first.

Iowa to house Fastest Internet Speed in the USA

I live in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. My ISP is Cox Communications, and I flirt around with speeds averaging about 20mbps. I feel pretty good at the speed I cruise at and I never have to wait long for any sort of media to load. But to the common folk of Waterloo, Iowa, using my internet connection may feel like torture - actually having to wait more than a couple of seconds for a HD Youtube video to load.

Coming soon Waterloo residents will be getting lightning fast speeds that topple over the country's fastest provider, Cablevision. Without the need to dig into streets or do some major rewiring, the upgrades will be done with minimal work; new modems thanks to DOCSIS 3.0 tech.

So what can Iowan's expect to pay for this takedown of speed dams?

"Obviously this product is a platinum level product that is for a different type of consumer. By the time of our rollout we will have prices in place for the high-end target we're trying to reach."

                                                                            -Mike Kohler,  Mediacom

Getting the highest possible speed more than likely won't come cheap, but it's a nice change of pace from all the talk of bandwidth caps and fiber optics. Change is good, or in this case, upgrading.

Chrome OS and Printing - a Match Not Made in Heaven

Y'know, I haven't had a printer in about 5 years. I've never really needed one. With my iPhone and email, I could just take my files on the go, or print out whatever I needed when I was at work. Maybe that's what Google is hoping you'll do since they're trying to make sure that all is set when you decide to ctrl + p on their upcoming Chrome OS.

According to recent CNET article, Google's Chrome OS is going to have play some catch up to nab up all the possible drivers for all the potential printers you might own. Apparently printers don't share the same standard as most USB enabled devices have, so Google is hoping to have some sort of work around to help battle the situation.

"We want to get out of the business of printer drivers. All the problems related to drivers we want to go away,"  Linus Upson, engineering director of the Chrome OS, and Chrome Browser.

Also, on the subject of various USB devices with their own driver related issues Linus had this to say:

"If that's important, Chrome OS is not the OS for you in 2010."

Bold statement I must say. Looks to me like Chrome is turning out to be the OS for the complete simpleton. But then again, I got to admit that that sounds like about 90% of computer users, so Chrome just might be what people have been looking for - just not what I've been looking for.

Digg Lite - Digg releases new API, makes it easier to get Dugg

Digg has, on a whim, taken it one step further in terms of making it easier for the little guys to get some credit, and for bigger news sources to expand. Since Digg is a huge news source for over 10 Million people every day, smaller bloggers pray and hope to be "Dugg" thus bringing traffic. Sadly, if your not a huge blog with a-lot of street cred, people don't digg your stuff. But what if you could make it so all your storys and content appear in such a way that people can Digg them. What if you could re-invent Digg?

Where Exactly do Tweets Go

After a lot of habub over the Chinese girl who shook Obama's hand last week NGonline decided to do a bit of work - explaining how a single image can make its way to every major online social and media network in a matter of hours.

It's really quite fascinating how the perfect time and place, added with a bit of Twitter, can make something so irrelevant become a worldwide water cooler discussion.
