Justin Bieber knocked off Twitter trending topics by C-SPAN

Last night was a historic day in terms of government and law for the United States; Passed in the late hours of the night on March 21st  was the bill for Health Care Reform. It was a big one around the USA and millions tuned into C-SPAN to catch the action directly, without the need of talking heads telling them what to think.

What's this have to do with tech and geek culture you ask?

Well, how about the fact that the term "C-SPAN", the channel otherwise known for being present only to take up space, knocked Justin Bieber off the Trending topics list on Twitter. It indeed was a historic day for, not just Americans, but for everyone around the world.

Also of note, "baby killer" made its way into the top ten. You can thank the heated health care debate for that one.

Nefonie announces WePad 11.6inch Android tablet

Android tablets aplenty, German company Neofonie released a render of the imaginatively named WePad. Out massing the iPad with an 11.6-inch (1366x768) display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, GMA 3150 graphics, webcam, two USB ports, flash card, UMTS modem and touted six hours of battery life -- too bad Neofonie never announced whether it will run flash. Oh well, in the mean time you can go gaga over Neofonie’s plans to integrate a WePad app store along with the Google Android Marketplace.

Happy 4th Birthday Twitter!

Twitter has been growing at such an alarming rate, it has reached the volume of 50 Million Tweets every day, and its not slowing down for anything. If you are interested in how Twitter came to be, check out the video after the break - it shows an accurate time lapse of the development cycle that happened at Twitter for the past 4 years.

Silverlight now available on Symbian... well sort of

Amongst all the hype out of MIX10 it must have slipped Microsoft’s mind to announce Silverlight for Symbian. Two years after Nokia announced that Silverlight would be coming to Symbian, it appears that it has. Currently support is limited to S60 5th Edition -- to be more specific only touch supported Symbian devices are supported. However with that said it’s just a beta for the time being. Needless to say, Symbian fanboys are most likely already buzzing around Silverlight enabled websites.
