RIM Buys The Astonishing Tribe

Remember that crazy Future of Screens video we saw a while ago? (It’s After the break) Then you might also remember that the video was made by a company called The Astonishing Tribe, and if you clicked into their YouTube channel, you would’ve seen that they had already been making a bunch of insanely wicked interface prototypes on some actual devices. Surprisingly, those demoes could actually represent the future of BlackBerry interfaces, as RIM has officially acquired the software company. Why is this such a big deal? The PlayBook and future BlackBerries could actually utilize some of TAT’s research and technologies to make awesome interfaces, a sure sign that things are about to get crazy once again in the mobile space.

Kevin Bacon plays his own biggest fan in new Google TV, Logitech Commercial

Brilliant? Yes. Funny? Absolutely! Helpful? Not really — If anything, this entire commercial does nothing for Google or Logitech in terms of appealing to a main stream audience. For the average Joe, this is a terriffic skit with Kevon Bacon in it, with some horrible product placement. It’s funny to watch, and now one of my favorite pieces of Kevin Bacon’s work — but it’s a horrible form of advertising sadly.

Now 4 years later since the release of the Wii, its competitors have joined in the multi-million dollar market with their own motion-variations, dubbed the Move and the Kinect. And the people have spoken: Motion controls sell… Big Time! — Sales stats after the break!

This is a Robot Actress - Video

This is when the desire to sift technology into every aspect of life takes over our common sense. This robot is seriously the result of sensibility gone down the drain, and another sign that the robot apocalypse is imminent. Also, she can do a great Keanu Reeves impression and is great for kids birthday parties.

Verizon LTE 4G data is here - $50/month for 5GB of data

A few hours ago, Verizon announced their new 4G data plans, and the areas that are receiving the LTE speeds and pricing. Around 38 markets will be brought to life when the operation is done on December 5th, including spots like Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and LA. Pricing will work like this — for $50/month you’ll get 5GB of data, and for $80/month you’ll get 10GB of data. Overages cost $10 per GB, which isn’t that crazy.
