Foursquare is getting more dynamic with comments and photos

Foursquare has announced a second major update for their famous location service. In this update they have included a better interface and the option to allow photo uploads. Foursquare did an amazing job implementing this feature, and also partnering with Instagram, PicPlz, and Foodspotting. Although this feature is nothing new in the check-in world, this seems to be a very successful venture for Foursqaure. Gowalla has had this feature for about nine months and Gowalla recently released data saying they hit the one million mark for photos uploaded.

Internet and ferrets on the rise, mermaids and bacon on the decline

If you haven’t heard, Google has launched a new service called “Books Ngram Viewer” which allows you to search books dating back to the 1800’s and beyond. Essentially, the Ngram viewer enables you to compare multiple words and see how often they appear in our literature over decades and centuries. In our case, we searched numerous unrelated words, and we got some interesting results — More after the break!

App Review - FoursqWAR

FoursqWAR
App type:
Game
Price: Free, but add-on’s are pricey
Compatible: iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad - iOS 4.1 required
Developer: Project Zebra Ltd.

Are you a Foursquare enthusiast? Have to “check in” into every single place you go? Well, then FoursqWAR maybe the next place you want to “check out”! Yeah, I’ll admit that was corny, and I apologize.

FoursqWAR uses Foursquare’s API to turn a simple means of letting people know where you are into a full on game of tactical turf warfare — Read the full review after the break!

Squarespace for iPad is here - Full review coming today

Well, Squarespace finally decided to release their new iPad app and we have had some early play time with it. We must say, it is really great and pretty, but do the features hold up to Squarespace’s standards in publishing on the desktop and does the app perform as advertised? — Stay tuned for one of our signature video reviews later today!

ISP's - "Impossible" for British government to block porn

In the past few days Britain’s culture minister Ed Vaizey has been making headlines for proposing a full on block of all porn in the United Kingdom. What exactly does that all mean? Censorship in its most basic definition, but it’s looking to be a lot more “impossible” than anything else if the ISP’s have antyhing to say about it — More details after the break!

The best 450 page Google Docs presentation you'll see today

If you’re like me then you’re probably saying something like, “let’s see Power Point do that!”

I think it goes without saying that Google sure knows how to get people excited, even if it is just for a web-based presentation application. Now why couldn’t they have made something this impressive for the now deceased Google Wave?

AOL acquires About.me

Splash page bio’s are all the rage right now, and apparently AOL thinks so too. About.me, the start-up project that we first got a sneak peek into about a month ago, has been acquired by AOL just 4 days after launch. There’s no specific mention as to how much it went down for, but we’re sure there were quite a lot of zero’s at the end of that check — More details after the break!
