BlackBerry QWERTY Slider steps back into the limelight

Remember yesterday when we revealed what was quite possibly a QWERTY Blackberry Slider? As of today several more photos were released, and this time they are in-focus. At the present time rumours are flying around the Internet left, right and center.  BlackBerry Leaks still stands by their theory, claiming that this may be the Storm 3, however, Kevin over at CrackBerry believes that this will be part of the Bold line. He’s also heard that this device is expected to have a 360x480 surepress display, along with Blackberry OS 6.0. Hopefully the next ensemble of photos will show it powered up, if that’s not too much to ask for?

Breaking: Could this QWERTY slider be a new BlackBerry handset?

Once again proving that leaked photos are never taken in-focus, the mobile community was graced with what appears to be a new Blackberry device -- to be more specific, a portrait QWERTY slider. At the moment Blackberry Leaks isn’t able to confirm whether the aforementioned photos are indeed authentic, however, they are speculating that this could be the Storm 3. Opposing this, Kevin Michaluk of CrackBerry suggested that this may be an internal mockup that found it's way to the Internet in a similar manner to the Magnum. -- Stay tuned for more information.

Nokia gets less creative, announces four smartphone classes

With Nokia wishing to push S60 down the ranks into the realm of low-end smartphones/feature-phones, the Finnish company was left with no other choice than to subdivide their current smartphone ranking system. Low and behold we’re granted with the CSeries, XSeries, ESeries and NSeries.  Apart from the slight subdivision, Nokia has also opted to rank handsets in a numerical order from 1-9; 1 being the lowest rated in terms of price, specifications and features and 9 being the highest in terms of price, specifications and features [...]

HTC's HD2 can't handle Windows Phone 7 Series

The fate of the most powerful Windows Mobile 6.5 device is still floating around in the clouds. With Microsoft making a clean break from its Windows Mobile roots, many have wondered whether the HTC HD2 will be upgradable to Windows Phone 7 Series.  Speculative rumours aside, it was once believed that the mighty HD2 would be upgradeable, however, a recent statement from Natasha Kwan General Manager for Microsoft’s Asia Pacific Mobile Communications Business said that it “doesn’t qualify because it doesn’t have the three buttons” solely dictated by Microsoft. Continuing to leave the mobile industry in the dark, Microsoft’s Director of Consumer Experiences Aaron Woodman graciously declined to the handset’s upgradability when grilled on The Engadget Show. He later went on to say that the handset would be subsequently reviewed with a somewhat quasi verdict to be announced at MIX’10.

Windows Phone 7 Series Themes for WinMo handsets

With a barrage of new devices and operating systems in store for 2010, consumers can often feel overwhelmed. Forking out cold hard cash to fill your gadget addiction is all well and good, but just how practical is it? In an attempt to save money XDA-Developers Jaxbot and LeSScro have rolled their own Windows Phone 7 Series themes, available for previous Windows Mobile handsets.

Jaxbot’s skin is still fairly slow and buggy however, it does provide you with some Windows Phone 7 Series lust. It currently includes information on live tiles, and the ability to see upcoming appointments via the lock screen. The latter -- being LeSScro’s theme -- provides you with sport times, dates, notifications via the lock screen and profile information with the added bonus of transitional animations. There’s also the inclusion of hubs and an application launcher. Whilst these themes are good for the moment, come Windows Phone 7 Series’ official launch many will opt for the real deal.

Motorola Droid is finally complete, found running HTC Sense

In a bizarre lexicon that can only be described as cataclysmic, an unsuspecting Motorola Droid has fallen victim to HTC’s latest iteration of Sense. Sure, it’s not the first time that we’ve seen Sense on a Motorola device, however this time it just feels right. Developer “thegeektern” over at AllDroid has shared a bunch of videos and photos displaying what can only be described as a HTC Desire ROM. Adding to the unholy of holy’s he’s also got some footage of his device running flash -- whilst this is impressive, it’s believed that the Droid will receive official flash integration later this year. The ROM is still being classed as a very early build, so some lag is a given. Adding to the Motorola noir, the original Droid logo is shown on startup.

Breaking: LG's WP7S prototype shown on The Engadget Show

Remember when we ran that post about Windows Phone 7 Series design chassis? It appears that the information provided by Microsoft Australia developers Michael Kordahi and Andrew Coates is more reliable than first thought. In it's world premier, The Engadget Show was graced with LG's Windows Phone 7 Series (very early) prototype handset.

Shown in all of it's slide out QWERTY goodness, LG's new handset is just a tad thicker than the iPhone or Nexus One. There are currently dedicated hardware camera, volume and power buttons. Also gracing the device are the standard Windows Phone 7 Series dictated back, home and search buttons. The guys over at Engadget also noted the inclusion of a 5 megapixel camera and a 3.5mm headphone jack. -- Remember that this is an early prototype design, so don't be surprised if it's subjected to change.
