How To: Run Android on Windows Mobile Handsets

Ever wanted to run Google's latest and greatest Android OS on your Windows Mobile 6.5 handset? Sure HTC's Sense interface, in conjunction with stunning hardware (HD2 and TouchPro2 alike) makes Microsoft's dated operating system bearable; but just how many fanboys strive to run both operating systems?

Behold "Gen Y DualBoot", the latest and greatest hack to come out of XDA-Developers, essentially this is a Linux based boot manager, allowing the user to cycle between Android and WinMo 6.5. (In hindsight, it acts in a similar manner to boot-managers featured on Windows and Macintosh PCs)

PocketNow shares how to steps, as well as a video demo. Whilst essentially this ROM is intended for a HTC Touch Diamond 2, PocketNow clearly shows it functioning on a TouchPro2.

Whilst this hack may be intriguing to some, it isn't for the faint at heart. Be warned there is the sheer possibility of accidentally bricking your handset.

MSI's newest creation -- CR720 17.3" -- is without a doubt a powerhouse. Targeted towards consumers that wish to replace their desktop computer with a more "intimate form factor". At the larger end of the spectrum, this 17.3" laptop offers the form factor of a mobile computer, whilst in turn featuring internals that make most desktops blush. MSI has once again opted for an LED-backlit display and chicklet style keyboard.

This brute features an Intel Core family processor (Core i3/i5/i7), Intel's HM55 chipset, Intel GMA HD graphics, up to 4GB of RAM, 500GB HDD, 17.3" HD Display (1600 x 900 resolution), WiFi, Bluetooth, 1.3MP Webcam, HDMI, USB 2.0, 6 cell battery and Windows 7.

HTC's Latest and Greatest Magic Trick

Boy what a great time to be an HTC MyTouch3G / Magic owner -- well maybe not depending on which handset you own. As of today the HTC European site has released an updated ROM featuring the beloved Sense UI. Those that are observant enough, take note that this dispatch is dubbed 3.05.401.3. To use the RUU (ROM Update Utility) you'll need to use a Windows PC -- alas no support for Macs yet -- If you opt to update your Magic be aware that this update does completely format your handset -- Back up or reap the consequences.

There is unfortunately one little caveat that we forgot to mention. HTC is currently making this update available for non-branded "with Google" handsets -- phone version PVT32A. That's right, all those that splurged on the with Google handsets are left out in the dark (myself included). Seems that Google is going the route of Apple and only allowing updates that they deem fit.
