Breaking - Nintendo Announces Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo enters the world of 3D gaming with the “Nintendo 3DS” - Nintendo by means of press release has revealed that the Kyoto gaming giant will announce the DS’ true successor during this year’s E3  - June 15th to be exact.

The new handheld hardware, known simply as the Nintendo 3DS, will feature:

  • 3D gaming without the need for glasses
  • cart based games
  • backwards compatibility
  • be available prior to March of 2011.

DS2? Pfff, forget that. Let’s go straight to 3… 3D that is!

The Nintendo DS and DS lite were such critical successes that we’ve all seen the gifs of them printing money out for Nintendo. Do you think the 3DS will have the same effect? I guess the only way we can make a proper prediction is by seeing it in action at this year’s E3.

Japanese McDonalds Training Employees with Nintendo DS

"Video games are a waste of time" and "you won't get anywhere playing those video games" - just some of the choice words parents and adults once said to the gaming youth of yesteryear. Now, however, games can land you employment!

Japanese McDonalds restaurants will soon each be getting two Nintendo DS systems to train new employees the art of burger flipping. It's all a part of a plan called "eSmart" in which McDonalds hopes to cut time and costs that are associated with training new part-timers. For those who are a little older, you may know that the McDonalds/ Nintendo bond has been in place for a while. During the 90's, the first Nintendo Zone's were put in McDonalds' playplaces where kids could enjoy fast food and play the newest N64 titles at the same place.

Wow, no wonder childhood obesity has become such a problem!

Sony mocks Natal and Wii in new Move Ad

I don't know what it is about Playstation Vice President, Kevin Butler, but I like him. I'd like to see him and NOA President, Reggie Fils-Aime, go toe to toe in a Wii Sports boxing match, or in that new Move fighting game.... errr, thing. Anyway, enjoy this glimpse into the far off future, where Sony's new Move controller is dominating the competition.

Wishful thinking much, Sony?

Video - NBA Jam 2010 on Wii - "Boom Shaka Laka!"

I've put on my nostalgia goggles and if there's anything that gets me more pumped it's the announcer saying, "He's on fire!". Oh how I can recount the many days I spent with the original NBA Jam on the Genesis as a young lad; playing as a big headed Bill Clinton dunking on Shaq like he was my, well you know what.

NBA Jam 2010 releases this fall on Wii.

PS3 Motion Controller 'Arc' getting Nunchuk device

It all started with the Six Axis getting last minute, unnecessary motion controls, and now it's final led to a full scale copy cat design of Nintendo's Wiimote. Tell me, when will it all stop? Apparently not anytime soon since developers are now confirming the existence of a nunchuk add-on, ala Nintendo Wii, that will work with Sony's "Arc" motion controller.

Previously, we saw Resident Evil 5 being played with the prototype Arc controller in one hand and a regular PS3 controller in the other. It looked uncomfortable just watching the guy present the demo; well, Sony seems to have solved that problem by looking over their shoulder to their long time nemesis, Nintendo, and got some ideas off of them. And it doesn't just stop there; there's talk that this addition wasn't made just for aesthetic reasons, but rather as a means to get developers excited about jumping off the Nintendo bandwagon and potentially making motion controlled games on a true next generation (HD) system.

No images or video of the device are available yet.
