Weekend Vids - A Look Back at last year's E3

In this week’s installment:

With the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) going down in just a matter of days we thought this would be an excellent chance to take a look back at last year’s E3, as well as a couple more memorable moments from E3’s of recent years past. Everything from when Zelda: Twilight Princess was first announced, to the infamous Ridge Raceeerrrrr line, to the Gran Turismo Translator just not giving a y’know what, we’re going to cover it all here.

Computex 2010 wrap-up

Every year without fail the biggest names in computing flock to Taipei for Computex. This year (as has been with previous years) we were treated to some of the hottest upcoming gadgets of 2010 / 2011. It was our utter privilege to bring you the latest in consumer news (as well as non-consumer news), but in the spirit of all great events, it’s finally come to an end. If you’re already going through Computex withdrawal, don’t worry, because we’ll back next year with the latest in gadgetry from the industry we’ve come to know and love (and we’re sure that plenty more exciting news’ll happen before then). However, if by some off chance you’ve been living under a rock for the last five days, we’ve taken all of our Computex posts and linked to them after the break. And as that iconic pig once said “that’s all folks.”

Don't Hotlink to Images - We Can Change Them

Look at the top left

Here at T3ch H3lp, we have had a bit of a scuffle with the competition - who will remain un-named*, but we don’t see why we can’t share a little anonymous info. A certain site has decided to copy and paste a large portion of our custom CSS code and Javascript, which make up our template, and is licensed under creative commons.

Unfortunately for them, they were too lazy to re-upload the images linked in the CSS and Javascript to their own servers, and thus we have full control over what images show on their site. We thought the “Sharing” images would be the most fun, and how we did this was we just looked at the images they were linking to, which was to our servers, and all we had to do was add a different file with the same filename - replacing the old one. Their site is still linking to the same file, but its not the same if you catch my drift…

T3ch.at Short URL's - Now you know where we're at!

Where’s the T3ch at? For months your favorite articles have been hidden behind gibberish - you know what we mean, those other short URL’s. A short URL can be a little scary when it comes to knowing where you’ll end up when you click one. A bit.ly link could go to god knows where, and you don’t want to have that uncertainty when looking for news to read. We have fixed that with T3ch.at, our own URL shortener.

Lots more info after the break!

T3ch H3lp says - Clean up your desk!

T3ch H3lp says - Clean up your desk!

Its the weekend, and me - @itsbrandond - have taken some time to reorganize my desk (picture left) and tidy up. My desk was a big ugly mess before I did this, and it sounds really dumb, but do it - clean up your desk!

So, tonight, take 20 mins and clean up your desk at home, and it’ll feel so much better, trust me. Ricardo (our executive editor) is a minimalist advocate, and he knows his stuff when it comes to simplifying the things you do. So do this for us, and for your sanity - Read Ricardo’s blog

★ T3ch H3lp wants you! - Be our new Editor

What is the state of T3ch H3lp? Why do we need editors? - Well, over the past year T3ch H3lp has grown into a peppy technology blog with a lot of potential. We have found our niche, and that niche is publishing content that matters to people, not business, other publications, or companies. We want our news, reviews, and editorials to be of interest to everyone who enjoys technology, and all its aspects, from Macbooks to the Xbox 360, on a personal level, and we want our entire site to be a fresh experience. We are a group of new and upcoming journalists, designers, gadget hoarders, and gamers that want to share this experience with everyone who’s interested.

New Music Monday: B.O.B.

“Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars” - It’s one of the most quoted songs on Facebook right now. Bobby Ray, aka B.O.B., has been growing in popularity this year. And with his first hit single Nothin On You ft. Bruno Mars, things are looking up for the artist.
