While this is still very much a rumour it looks as though Palm’s finally beginning to throw around HP’s big bucks. PreCentral, is currently reporting that it’s heard from a “very reliable tipster” who says that Palm is beginning to prep a new phone codenamed “Mansion.” — While, there’s still no way to confirm this, it’s also been rumoured that the “Mansion” could be the same device that passed through the FCC recently under the name P102.

HTC Desire HD and 1.2 GHz CDMA+GSM Slider Spotted In the Wild?
We knew HTC had quite a bit of stuff hidden up their sleeves just waiting to be released. Let’s start off with the Desire HD. With the EVO 4G being quite a success in the US CDMA market, it’s a bit of a no-brainer to launch a GSM version of the device. What many people are calling the Desire HD boasts a 4.3 inch touchscreen, 8 megapixel camera, 1 GHz Snapdragon, and Android 2.2 (basically your typical high-end Android device). But a couple of things stand out: an “integrated aluminum body” and “face tracking.” The aluminum body we’ve heard about before might be something similar to the casing found on the HTC Legend but there doesn’t appear to be any aluminum on the face of the device at all so it might actually be closer to the iPad’s enclosure. Now face tracking is the weird part. There is definitely no front-facing camera on this unit so maybe they just mean face detection for the 720p video recording.

Apple might be planning to launch iOS 4 for iPad August 16thNot only that — but Apple may also be planning to launch a new iPod touch with a front facing camera along with iOS 4 for iPad August 16th, according to Portuguese blog MacMagazine. This isn’t surprising considering Apple has a past history of under-promising, and over delivering (in most cases), which is a good strategy obviously, but if these rumors surface as true, would the new iPod touch with a camera (and iOS 4) dramatically hurt the sales of the iPhone 4?

Google and Verizon want a Tiered Payment system for the internetThis story from the NY Times really left a bad taste in my mouth (but not because of the article) — The fact that Google and Verizon want to “team up” and charge customers more to make Google services like Youtube and Gmail “faster” than other websites, breaks the very fibre that has kept the internet alive for decades. Net neutrality.
