Watch the Mars Rover land like a boss (like it will in 2012)
This is obviously an artist’s concept animation that shows NASA’s Mars Rover landing on Mars. NASA will launch Curiosity (the Mars rover) in late 2011 and land it on Mars in August 2012. We think it’s so amazing to see how complex the process is to land a little Rover on Mars, and how talented the pilots must be!

Controlling a Quadrotor with a Kinect - Video
Real life Jedi powers are now possible, thanks to the wonders of Quadrotors and Xbox Kinect. “We are looking for ways to make interaction with our vehicles natural and intuitive. With this in mind we implemented a demo for fast, dynamic interaction with a quadrotor vehicle using the Kinect in the Flying Machine Arena.” — Also, Kinect Robot Apocalypse.

This robot can beat you at playing pool all day
There are so many robots in existence it’s ridiculous, and all of them seem to have their own charm. Some can dance, some can play instruments and some can plot the destruction of the world — but this robot is very different. This robot designed by Omiros Kourakos and Sandra Hirche can play a mean game of pool, and the pool que can be used by people too!

This robot draws creepy portraits with a pen - Video
At first I thought this would be a “robotic” piece of software that drew a portrait in photoshop or something, but I was very wrong. This could be one of the coolest, yet creepiest things I have ever seen, and reminded me a lot of that scene in iRobot where Will Smith draws the bridge. This cool, but it’s still another sign of the inevitable robot apocalypse…

This is what Astronaut's cameras see while in space - Video
While writing this post, I have the video running in the background just so I can keep listening to the narrators voice describe the wonders of our planet. We don’t touch alot on space here at Okay Geek, but this video is just to breathtaking to resist. Sit back and enjoy the most splended and detailed view of earth ever captured on video, in glorious 1080p HD.
Two researchers have properly enhanced 8-bit "pixel art" using an algorithm
When it comes to the term “8-bit”, any geek will understand the joy they feel when that phrase is uttered. It means something “retro” or something that will flood memories back from their early days of gaming as a kid. As a designer, I think of beautiful 8-bit art or maybe even icons for a website or application, and a musician would think of chiptunes — but everyone can agree on one thing — 8-bit has stood the test of time, but now researchers have used science to enhance the pixelated art of the past.

Scientists create creepy robot clones of themselves - Video
Theres many things that makes this video creepy — the intense realism, the overwhelming likeness of the creators and the eyes (OH THE EYES!) — but the creepiest moment of the entire video was when all 3 robots were sitting and chatting with eachother while their creators stood there awkwardly with hands in their pockets. It’s only time before the robot apocolypse comes around and you come face to face with a robot copy of yourself…
