iPhone 3.1.3. Firmware Makes Battery Life Worse?

Before I went through my recent iPhone firmware update, I wanted to see what new things I would gain from it. It said the usual -- bug fixes and stuff, but one that really caught my life was improved battery life. Sadly, after using it for a couple days I've found that it's made my battery life completely terrible; I sat in my class the other day and noticed that in less than 1 hour the battery percentage had dropped 10%, just while being in standby mode - 1 hour!

I wasn't sure if I was just imagining things or if my battery was really dying but it seems others on the Apple forums have noticed the same thing. Where's our fix Apple? My recommendation, DON'T UPGRADE just yet.

Google Sync Recieves an Update -- Now with more Muscle

Google is currently on a role as of late - first the Nexus One update and now this; The new Google Sync update adds several functions that were previously lacking - surprisingly enough, the added features can be found in Microsoft's ActiveSync Application - who would have thought?

Back to the topic, Google's Sync software now allows users to remotely wipe their handset data. This is a must have addition, especially in the instances when mobile phone theft or loss occurs. Also featured in this update, Google's licensing Exchange ActiveSync. You may be asking, what does that mean? Put simply it means that you can now use it to either push email, calendar events and even contacts straight to your handset. Below is an added lagniappe (advantage) for iPhone users.

"By the way, if you're an iPhone and Exchange 2007 user in the enterprise and don't use Google Sync, The Apple Blog has a how-to that might interest you. They have a step-by-step tutorial showing how to remotely wipe an iPhone using Microsoft's Outlook Web Access service." -- Kevin C. Tofel [jkOnTheRun]

Microsoft Reports Record Revenue Quarter

Microsoft reports this quarter they've earned more than $19 billion dollars in revenue, and it's all thanks in part to fan favorite, Windows 7; Selling over 60 million copies since its release in late October, the sleek and sexy operating system has become the fastest selling OS ever released. Turning popular opinion on its head, Windows 7 gave Microsoft another chance at life and made the common PC user think twice before switching over to a MAC - and how could you blame them for considering it after the monstrosity that was Vista, and all those quirky yet lovable "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads - we heart you John Hodgman

Windows 7 made owning a PC fun again, and it's given some credibility back to a company that appeared down and beaten. I'm not trying to sound like an ad here myself, but I love everything about Windows 7, and if you haven't gotten the chance to upgrade yet you really should consider it. And as a dedicated PC user, I doubt I'll ever switch exclusively to a Mac because of it... that is unless Apple wants to start sponsoring us and hand me a Macbook Pro to try out, which in that case I might not toot Microsoft's horn so much. Hey, I've been defending the iPad left and right all over the internets these passed few days - I think I deserve some recognition!

What You Can Expect At Apple's Announcement Besides A Tablet

We are all excited to see what new things Apple reveals today and of course we are expecting a Tablet. But there are more things that should be announced alongside it that people have forgotten or just don't care about because of the Tablet. I predict a number of things including the Tablet, an updated Mac Pro, Macbook Pro, iPhone OS 4.0 and many things added to the iTunes store.

See in detail what each product might include...
